Enhanced QuikSCAT Wind Processing at NOAA/NESDIS for Accurate Near-Real-Time Results

The improvements in QuikSCAT near-real-time wind processing implemented at NOAA/NESDIS include changes in model function for higher wind speed retrievals, enhanced processing of measurements at the swath edge, revised rain flagging reducing from 4.2% to ~1.8%, and the introduction of the QuikSCAT_P 25km, and QRad Rain Rate Product. These enhancements aim to provide more accurate and reliable wind data for forecasting and research applications.
