  19. IMPROVEMENT OF PRODUCTIVITY IN HIGH AREA WITH LOW PRODUCTIVITY Introduction of short duration varieties in water scarcity areas. Deep ploughing to eliminate Soil borne diseases & to make the soil for more water holding capacity. Popularization resistant varieties for sucking pest in Groundnut like K-6 and wilt resistant varieties in Sunflower. Encourage water harvesting structures like farm ponds with lining .Use of sprinklers and water supply pipes to cover more area with existing water resources. Reclamation of problematic soils through Gypsum/Lime.

  20. INCREASE OF AREA IN OILSEEDS • Introduction of Oilseeds in non traditional areas • Encouraging Intercropping Groundnut with Red gram in 11:1or 7:1 ratio. • Sunflower as catch crop in situations where water is available for shorter duration in rabi/summer season. • In Telangana Region where groundnut is grown mainly during Rabi season in districts like Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Karimnagar, the department is planning for timely supply of quality inputs and sprinklers. • Groundnut crop shall be promoted in upland areas of Nalgonda, Medak, Mahabubnagar, districts. • Increased area under protective irrigation with water saving devices like Sprinklers and water carrying pipes.

  21. ENHANCEMENT OF PRODUCTIVITY THROUGH INM AND IPM Seed treatment with fungicides and Bio agents. Popularization of Rhizobium culture application. Popularization of Phosphorus Soluble Bacteria. Adopt soil test based fertilizer recommendations and application of gypsum in irrigated groundnut crop for Ca ,and Sulphur requirement . Rectification of Micronutrient deficiency through application of ZnSO4, Iron, Boron. Maintenance of optimum plant population is a key factor to achieve higher yield. Pest monitoring and control through pheromone traps, Trichoderma cards. Training on identification of Pest/Disease and effective control through appropriate chemical and dosage. Parthenium eradication campaign may be taken up at appropriate time.

  22. CRITICAL INTERVENTIONS TO INCREASE OILSEED PRODUCTIVITY AND PRODUCTION Seed Replacement Ratio (SRR) planned for different oil seed crops is: Ground nut (64%), Sun flower and Soybean (100%), and Sesamum (35%) respectively. Varietal Replacement Ratio (VRR): Replacement of old varieties with new varieties. Strengthening of seed chain i.e, seed production programme from Breeder seed to Foundation and Certified seed. Supply of quality certified seed of recommended potential genotypes (cultivar) for different farming situations. Popularization of short duration varieties in rainfed areas. Popularization Botrytis & Drought resistant varieties in Castor and wilt resistant varieties in Sunflower. Sowing through Multi crop planter for maintaining plant optimum population .

  23. Contd… • Popularization of pre emergence weedicides for effective control of weeds. • Effective use of water through sprinkler sets , and water carrying pipes in low water availability areas. • Capacity building : On farm training through FFS • Enhancing the Extension Reach through Adarsha Rythus, NGOS’, Rythu Clubs and Rythu Mitra Groups etc., by utilizing Press and Electronic media. • Planning with Research back up by working in co-ordination with scientists of ANGRAU, KVKs, DAATT centers to extend timely guidance. • Special emphasis on Information Technology by providing information online through AGRISNET.

  24. IMPROVEMENT OF PRODUCTIVITY IN HIGH AREA WITH LOW PRODUCTIVITY Introduction of short duration varieties in rainfed areas.

  25. MINIKITS DISTRIBUTED DURING KHARIF-2014 & PLAN FOR RABI-2014-15

  26. PRODUCTIVITY ENHANCEMENT AND INCREASE OF PRODUCTION IN OILSEEDS THROUGH . 1.Cropping system approach. 2.Replacement of Varieties. 3.Weed management 4.Nutrition Management. 5.Pest and Disease Management 6.Farm Mechanization 7.Post harvest.

  27. 1.Cropping Systems Approach: 2.Replacement of Varieties: • Replacement of existing varieties with recently released (less than 10 years) high yielding varieties. • The old varieties like TMV-2 and JL-24 are replaced with K6 and promoting new varieties like K9, ICGV 91114, TAG 24, Anantha, Kadiri ,Haritandra. Crop rotation with groundnut/ finger millet/ sorghum/ chickpea/ soybean are effective. Intercropping of Groundnut with Castor and Redgram ( 7: 1 )

  28. 3.Weed Management Main reason for low productivity in Oilseeds both in Kharif and Rabi is due to excessive Weed growth. Due to shortage of Agriculture Labour and the increased wages, the hand weeding and hoeing is not possible at appropriate stage of crop growth. Timely Intercultivation can be done to reduce weed competition for which low cost implements may be popularized. Encouragement of Weed management through weedicides (Preemergence and Post emergence). Planning to eradicate the Parthenium weed and soil application of FYM enriched with Trichoderma Viridi to manage the Peanut Stem Necrosis disease (PSND) and Peanut Bud Necrosis disease ( PBND).

  29. 4.Nutrient Management: 5. Pest and Disease Management • Seed treatment with Bio Agents like Trichoderma Viridi. • Creating Awareness of different pests and diseases through training and field exposure. • Creating Awareness of using appropriate pesticide concentration and quantity of spray fluid • Encouraging to select disease/pest resistant varieties. Recommendation of Balanced Major Nutrients (NPK) Rectification of Zn deficiency through Basal Application and /or through foliar spray of Zinc Sulphate Reclamation of problematic soils through Gypsum/Lime. Rectification of Micro Nutrient deficiencies like Boron and Iron .

  30. 6.Farm Mechanization 7.Post Harvest • Post Harvest Technology should be used for improving the quality of produce and also to reduce the cost of cultivation. • To get remunerative price to the farmer, procurement is arranged through societies and Nodal Agencies like MARKFED. Popularisation of Rotavators for proper land preparation ,weed control and root growth. Encouraging line sowing and simultaneous application of basal nutrients through Multicrop Seed Cum fertilizer Drills. Encouraging Mechanical Harvesting to avoid labour scarcity and to minimize crop loss due to adverse climatic conditions.
