This course dives into the fascinating world of language evolution, focusing on pidgins and creoles. Students will explore how these languages emerge, their characteristics, and their differences. Our discussions will cover key questions about the nature of Englishes in comparison to Standard English, and an exploration of the most spoken languages worldwide. Additionally, students will engage in microessay discussions and contribute to Project Babel. Prepare to interact and collaborate with peers, enhancing your understanding of language diversity.
