  4. Areas of Interest • Rudas baths- a spa in Budapest • Danube bend- the Danube flows through a significant curve through Budapest. Beautiful site to visit in Hungary • Budapest- The capital known as the queen of the Danube. Many different architectural styles from many cultures. Contains ruins and castles. Hungarian culture • Hungarians are reserved, formal people • The overall mood in Hungary is patriotic sorrow • If you are invited to a Hungarians home bring flowers its custom, or a nice bottle of wine • Money is a touchy conversation topic • Hungarians put surnames in front of given names in all usages • Hungarians celebrate namedays • Some holidays include new years, valentines day, ball season, carnival season, women's day, and Easter. History • The huns, szekleys, and avars settled hungary • Hungary Latin until 1844 • 1921 elections were held for emperor • Hungary developed a steady economy during the 2 wars • Recovered their territories between the wars • WWII brought heavy losses to Hungary they were captured by soviet troops and many died • Hitler occupied Hungary to help include Hungary in the war • Many Jews found in Hungary were sent to concentration camps • In 1945 the soviets drew Germany out of Hungary Hungarian soldiers

The Hungarian flag • First used in 1848-1849 • Red-symbolizes strength white-symbolizes faithfulness green-symbolizes hope • The tricolor was first used in 1841 • Flag must be used on official building in Hungary • The other flag is the tricolors and the coat of arms on it • The other flag is used on government buildings • The coat of arms flag is less used • Coat of arms used In very formal occasions • The coat of arms is found usually in the white section of the flag Coat of arms flag
