  3. Goal • Provide the best possible opportunity for the up and coming to F.I.S. level athlete to meet his or her goals in a competitive and educational environment

  4. Ski Program • Provide world-class training to athletes to reach their full potential • US Ski team • JO levels • College ski teams • FIS level skiing

  5. Community Advantages • Highly desirable for new business in Weber County • Draws Students and Families from outside Weber county • Helps Ogden vision as sports and recreation hub

  6. Objective • College prep education • Junior high and High school • Competitive athletes in non-traditional sports • Highly flexible schedule

  7. Education • Integrated school • Low student teacher ratio • Built 1987 • Built as high school • 300 students

  8. High School • Students would attend Weber or Bonneville • Combination of online and classroom

  9. School Facilities • Two indoor basketball gyms • Indoor ski storage • Indoor weight room

  10. Coursework • Blend of on-line and in class room • AP and honors courses • Core ie. Math, English, Science taught in am

  11. Faculty • Existing faculty in school district • Former athletes • Specialized guidance counselor to help target college opportunities

  12. Ski Venues • Snowbasin venue of the 2002 Olympic games • Wolf Creek Utah Ski Resort proven race training hill

  13. Ideal training day • 7:20 pick up at Rainbow • School 7:45-12:50 • Lunch 1:00-1:30 • Pick up 1:30 • On Skis 1:40 – 4:10 • Rainbow 4:45

  14. Student Body • Academically motivated • Must be member in good standing with national organization • Comply with code of conduct and no disciplinary actions

  15. Sports included Sports recognized by NCAA or as winter or summer Olympic sport or winter or Summer X-games • Sport must have a national governing body

  16. Academic Standards • Standardized test score minimum Academic curriculum to fulfill NCAA eligibility • GPA to maintain NCAA eligibility

  17. Training Phases • Dryland- strength, speed, agility • Summer/Pre-season- On snow training fundamental, drills, video analysis, equip preparation • In Season Training- Competition preparation- timing , race simulation, mental preparation • Race season- Train/race schedule TBD

  18. Traditional Sports • Athletes could participate in fall • Spring sports

  19. Skiing • Program run by SSEF • FIS coaching staff • JV team to serve as feeder • Advertise with other IMD programs

  20. Numbers of athletes • Ideally 30-50 • J3 – 10 • J2-5 • J1-5

  23. Costs • Weber County education free to Utah residents • Weber County $5000 for out of state • Saint Joseph cost of current tuition $8000

  24. Skiing Costs • Current JO program $3100

  25. Age Athletes • J1 and J2 • J3 core to start 2009-2010 • J4 may participate (7th grade & above)
