  1. Activity 1: LA 3 Official Pretest 15 minutes • When finished, hand pretest and scantron to me. Pick up a survey and complete. Remain silent until the time is finished. Activity 2: Music Identity Presentations 10 minutes • Remember to participate: we are LOOKING and LISTENING and SMILING. POSSIBLY FRIDAY:::::::Activity 3: 6 + 1 Writing Traits • Handout—hole-punch and put in binders • Highlight/underline/circle in color the importance and meaning of traits • Students in assigned groups (7/8 groups of 4) • Create image for 6 + 1 Writing Traits EXIT TICKET = Group shares one complete sentence about a trait and what they know about it.

Activity 1: SOAPStone and Pet Peeve Article • Pair share—turn to your neighbor and share your annotations/thoughts • Speaker—share your description of who is telling the story • Occasion--- share your description of the time and place of this piece, is this a larger or immediate occasion? • Audience--- share your description of whom this piece is written for • Purpose– share why you think the author wrote this, can you support your idea with evidence • Subject– share in a few words what the topic is • Tone– share in a few words the attitude of the author, how would the author sound if he/she was talking to you? SHARE WITH THE CLASS: speak loud and clear, no interrupting, listening only Activity 2: TED Talk—Sir Ken Robinson, “How Schools Kill Creativity”
