Metaphor. A metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things. Example : Grant is a couch potato. Alliteration. Alliteration is when writers use the same beginning sound. Example: Shane Shoemaker sheers shaggy sheep. Simile. Simile compares two things using like or as.

  2. Alliteration • Alliteration is when writers use the same beginning sound. • Example: Shane Shoemaker sheers shaggy sheep.

  3. Simile • Simile compares two things using like or as. • Example: Will is as grumpy as Oscar the Grouch.

  4. Hyperbole • Hyperbole is when something is over exaggerated. • Example: My Mom is on facebook 24/7.

  5. Personification • Personification is giving human characteristics to animals and inanimate objects. • Example: My dog Sarah told me she wanted a treat.
