The Surface Science Materials Research & Development Group, led by Ranjani V. Siriwardane and James A. Poston Jr., focuses on innovative solutions for fuel stream contaminant removal and CO2 separation. Our research encompasses sorbent development and chemical looping combustion (CLC) for optimizing oxygen carriers. We utilize state-of-the-art testing facilities to explore catalyst and sorbent characterization, including high-pressure and high-temperature reactors, offering significant insights into trace contaminant analysis, including the behavior of sulfides and various oxides in advanced energy generation systems.
