Reasons for the Audit • Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian” (CCYPCG) has the Scout Association under scrutiny. • There are questions about the training level of our leaders. • The Chief Commissioner has instructed all of the Region Commissioners to conduct these audits.

  3. Audit Parameters • LT1, LT2, LT3, Skills Training 1 within 6 months of sign up. • Skills Training 2 and 3 within 12 months of sign up. • 3 Wood Badge components within 24 months of sign up. Mutual Agreement • http://www.gcscouts.com.au/library/A1.pdf • “I undertake to complete the basic components of the Adult Training Program (where applicable) to qualify for a Certificate of Adult Leadership, and to further develop my skills as a leader by availing myself of additional training opportunities, including completion of my training to Wood Badge Standard within two years of acceptance as a leader. I understand that the issue of a Certificate of Adult Membership or Certificate of Adult Leadership can be recalled at any time without reason and, in that event, I agree to return my Certificate and all Scout property within 7 days of receiving notice from the Association.”

Leader Commitment - Training(cont) Leadership Training (Advanced) – must be done in order • Skills Training 2 (1 day) – Advanced Workbook part A issued • Skills Training 3 (2 day weekend or equivalent) - Advanced Workbook part B issued. • Role Specific Skills, completed within 12 months of sign-up • (Certificate of Appointment issued)

Leader Commitment - Training(cont) Leadership Training (Advanced) - Wood Badge Training • Pre-requisites – Leadership Training 1, 2 & 3 & Skills Training 1, 2 & 3 and Advanced Work Books A and B • Wood Badge Training 1 - Residential Weekend - all Leaders to complete • Advanced Leadership Skills and Personal Development Skills • Advanced Workbook part C • Should be completed within 18 months of sign-up • Wood Badge Training 2 – Project • Project to take approx. 10 hours over a 3 month period, set & agreed with Wood Badge Training 1 Course Leader. Supervised by Regional Commissioner (RC)/District Commissioner (DC) or nominee (Project Supervisor). • Wood Badge Training 3 - Evaluation – completed 4 months after Wood Badge Training 1, and within 24 months of sign-up • (Wood Badge Parchment & Badge (beads) issued, Gilwell Scarf also presented) • Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) issued and if current Senior First Aid qualification held, Certificate IV in Leadership issued.

Audit Measures • Leaders who have not completed to Certificate of Adult Leadership within 12 months of signup. • Leaders who have completed any skills training and who have not had their LT2 workbook signed off. • Leaders who have attained Certificate of Adult Leadership and not attained wood badge within 12 months of attaining Certificate of Adult Leadership but started wood badge elearning or completed the wood badge 1 course. • Leaders who have attained Certificate of Adult Leadership and who have not started their wood badge elearning. • Leaders who have completed the wood badge level 1 but RC has not signed off for a project pre2012 and post 2012

  10. Next Step • Leaders will need to agree to a training program with their Group Leader to demonstrate their commitment to finishing their basic and advanced training within a specified time frame.   • The Group Leader will have responsibility to monitor this progress as funding for the training comes under their group committee. • The RC or their delegate to conduct interviews with leaders who aren’t prepared to complete their training within the required or an agreed timeframe. • Discuss options within the association.
