  2. 8 SESSION ONE: PURPOSE Nothing precedes purpose. The starting point for every church should be the question, "Why do we exist?" Until you know what your church exists for, you have no foundation, no motivation, and no direction for ministry. If you are helping a new church get started, your first task is to define your purpose... Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Church, p. 81.

  3. 7 PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS • Get to know one another • Learn about Jesus Christ • Learn about the history of the Reformed movement and Jesus Christ • Learn what makes Presbyterians unique • Learn about Trinity and its core values • Learn about our own faith and spiritual gifts • Become a member of Trinity and get involved

  4. 7 PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS By the time you leave, we hope you walk away with: • Having learned about yourself and your faith • A stronger relationship with Jesus Christ • Relationships with others at Trinity • A decision to join Trinity and get involved with hits ministries

  8. 9 FOUR KEY QUESTIONS • Do you believe in One God who makes himself known in the three persons of the Holy Trinity: • God the Father Almighty • Jesus Christ his only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior • The Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life?

  9. 8 FOUR KEY QUESTIONS • Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and risen Savior and do you trust him as the only way to salvation? • Do you intend to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and proclaim the gospel of salvation to humankind, preserve the truth, promote social righteousness and exhibit the transforming love of Jesus to the world?
