  2. 1:1-11 Third Person  1:12-12:8 First Person  12:9 -14 Third person  12:8 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.      1:2Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher,         vanity of vanities! All is vanity.  Ecclesiastes 1

  3. 9 Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care. 10 The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth. Ecclesiastes 12

  4. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd. 12 My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Ecclesiastes 12

  5. 13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.  Ecclesiastes 12

  7. 2. Seek Wisdom not just knowledge  • Ecclesiastes 12:12 - My son, beware of anything beyond these. • Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh. How to avoid a meaningless life:

  8. 3. Be a Steward • Ecclesiastes 11:6 - In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good. How to avoid a meaningless life:

  9. 4. Worship the Creator not the creation    • Ecclesiastes 6:9 - Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the appetite: this also is vanity and a striving after wind.  How to avoid a meaningless life:

  10. 5. Choose freedom over slavery • Ecclesiastes 5:12 - Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.  How to avoid a meaningless life:

  11. 6. Honor God Now • Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 - I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13 also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man. How to avoid a meaningless life:
