Enhancing English Learning through Modern Teaching Techniques at The City School, Peshawar

This action plan aims to improve the classroom environment and bolster students' understanding of the English language in Grade 5 at The City School, Peshawar. By adopting modern teaching techniques, we will engage students through brainstorming sessions, activity-based learning, and group discussions. Our long-term goal is to create a more effective learning atmosphere. We anticipate challenges such as resistance from parents or the headmistress and reluctance from students, but we will address these through communication and collaboration, ensuring all voices are heard.

  1. NADIA & SAIRA The City School Town Junior, Peshawar ENGLISH, GRADE 5 ACTION PLAN

  2. Long-termGoal To adopt and implement modern teaching techniques to improve classroom environment and enhance students’ understanding of English language.

  3. Short-term Goals To adopt certain strategies to identify weak areas and to cover them with full participation of students in the class. To encourage use of efficient resources in the classroom. To get students interested in learning by mutual cooperation and listening to everyone's views.

  4. Instructional Strategies and Tasks We will start from brain storming session where individual student has an opportunity to share his/her own ideas regarding the topic. • We will provide students with chances to think and learn out of the conventional style of learning. Activity based learning tool will be adopted e.g. each group will first observe and then write about certain topic e.g. my school’s garden. • Groups will be allowed to present their work. Students will be encouraged to discuss each other ideas.

  5. Challenges Solutions Solutions to Anticipated Challenges Headmistress may not approve of my new methods. Some students may feel reluctant in group discussions. Parents may show dissatisfaction. We will show an outline of the plan to my Head and highlight the areas that need attention. We will encourage mixed ability group formation to keep the situation unbiased. We will have meetings with parents and illustrate the importance for a change.

  7. Resources • Teachers who teach the same grade and subject as us. • Microsoft word processing, multimedia and spreadsheet applications. • Intel Teach Program Getting Started Course manual. • Internet & A.V aids used before.

  8. Conclusion By applying my newly acquired 21st century teaching approaches, students will be benefited from new techniques of learning that will strengthen their understanding of English language.
