  1. VP of Products Report Melbourne, Australia AdCom Meeting at ECCE Asia - June 2013 June 3, 2013 Prasad Enjeti

  2. Reporting Outline • Newsletters – Magazine transition • Digital Media – Webinars • Website – Mobile site • PELS 25th Anniversary Planning Update

  3. Newsletters / Magazine Update • Initiate a process to search for a new EIC for letters – in progress • EIC transition: Arthur to Babak has been smooth Transition to Magazine is in phase-2 proposal. Estimate : 60-100 paper submissions per year. • Need to decide a fully edited or partially edited" service for the new magazine. Prefer fully-edited service as a start. • We need to make a decision quickly regarding the ad sales for the new magazine: Use IEEE Media or our own?

  4. Digital Media Products / Publications • BurakOzpineci – New digital media editor • Michael Markowycz – hired to replace Tom in late May • One webinar in early May launched by Alex Lidow on GaN devices - with good attendance from worldwide • PELS DLs will be contacted – Webinars will be coordinated with chapters – in progress • Working with ECCE 2013 – Conference Program / Papers - online access via PELS mobile site (similar to ECCE 2012) – in progress • With Mike Markowycz now onboard Webinar series should be active again.

  5. First PELS Webinar SeriesTwo ½ days in November • InfoNeedle – Proposal $8200 • Planning in progress • Start a Technical blog on PELS Website –Grant/Burak - to enhance website traffic – in progress

  6. Several Webex sessions conducted after our last AdCom meeting • Attendance: Prasad, Dong Tan, Katherine Kim, Philip Krein, Donna, Jo Ann Snyder • Also contacted Curtis Cameren & Peter Wung

  7. Updates: • 25th Anniversary Invitation finalized. • Reception ahead of the ECCE 2013 Banquet • Peter Wung & Curtis Cameron have presented 2-options for the anniversary reception – prior to Wed night Banquet • Option-1: Use one of the hotel meeting rooms/ballroom spaces – Cost: near zero • Option-2: Use Peaks Lounge - upper level bar at the hotel and has a pretty spectacular view of the Rockies, Cost: $5,000 Room Rental charge plus $35 per person per hour. For 100 people, we are looking at about $12,000.00 with room rental and the food & beverage minimum.

  8. At the Banquet: Peter Wung recommends – a chef designed confection decorative coin for the desserts and put the PELS logo or the PELS 25th anniversary logo right on the coin so that it is prominently displayed for all to see.  Pete thinks this is much better than serving sheet cake to everyone. • Lapel-Pin: Initial design was 1.5inch long. It was decided not to pursue this. Instead a 5/8” pin with the PELS logo and “25” superimposed on it would make a nice item that everyone would reuse. The new design is not yet complete. • Necktie design: Had lots of discussion, not finalized

  9. Pre Banquet invitee list includes: past presidents / key society officers – list finalized. • Special 25th Ann Gift to Invitees: There has been discussion on ordering a nice computer bag with PELS 25th Anniversary logo – not yet finalized. • Produce a pre-recorded conversation with Trey Burns, Tom Wilson Sr, John Kassakian & Phil Krein by IEEE TV • Ballpark price I received from IEEE TV regarding the video we would like to produce: $10- 12K including travel. • Newsletter article on history / background information – Phil Krein to circulate a draft – In progress.
