Fungi. Fungi are eukaryotes that have cell walls, are heterotrophs that feed by absorbing their food, and use spores to reproduce. The cells of most fungi are arranged in a structure called hyphae . Fungi absorb food through hyphae that grow into the food source.

  1. Fungi Fungi are eukaryotes that have cell walls, are heterotrophs that feed by absorbing their food, and use spores to reproduce. The cells of most fungi are arranged in a structure called hyphae.

  2. Fungi absorb food through hyphae that grow into the food source.

  3. The fungus grows hyphae into food then hyphaesecrete digestive chemicals into food. After food is broken down, hyphaeabsorb it.

  4. Reproduction in Fungi Fungi produce thousands of spores with a protective covering: carried by water and air. spores land in a warm, moist place they grow.

  5. Asexual Reproduction in Fungi is called budding. No spores are produced, instead a bud from the parent cell forms then breaks off.

  6. Fungi also reproduce sexually. Two hyphae of two fungi grow together and genetic material is exchanged. A new reproductive structure grows from this fused joint and Spores are produced.
