  2. DECA’s Competitive Events Program As a DECA member, you have a chance to move your classroom learning onto a bigger stage as you demonstrate your skills through competitive events.

  3. So what’s in it for you? • TRAVEL to local, state/province and international conferences • At local/district/regional competition you get your feet wet as you represent yourself and your DECA chapter close to home.

  4. Travel (cont.) • If you qualify for state/provincial competition, you travel to the competition site and try your hand at the next level. (Events that have role-play components start at the local level. In most states/provinces, written event participants enter their projects at the state/provincial level. There are exceptions.)

  5. Travel (cont.) • At the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), the final stage of competition, qualifiers travel to a major city and join in activities that bring together 14,000 students, advisors, and businesspeople. This conference will astound you!

  6. What’s in it for you? • Make new friends who share your interests • Win recognition and even cash awards if you succeed in this competition • Learn professional polish and how to operate in the business world

  7. What’s in it for you? • Meet and work with businesspeople who will help you prepare for competition and will judge your performance • Bring your classroom learning to life • Test yourself on how far you can go in competition
