  5. What does it allCOST? $ $ Tuition is FREE for BC residents, who are Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, Refugees, or have a work permit (1 year or more). Effective May, 2012 BC graduates may have to pay $425, depending on the course. Most English, Math and Science courses will be FREE (Click here for complete list). BC graduates must pay $425 for all other grade 11 and 12 courses • International visa students pay $800 per course Click to continue

LEARNING MATERIALS Some courses require TEXTBOOKSThey can be borrowed free to use in the learning centre OR take one home: $100 DEPOSIT ($100 refunded) Some courses require WORKBOOKS $10 to $30 Many courses require NO books Pay for books by cash, debit, MasterCard or Visa credit card • You bring your own supplies, like pens, paper, etc. • NOTE: We can supply a letter showing enrollment (for daycare).   9. A DOGWOOD DIPLOMA is... PROOF OFACADEMIC HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONin the province of B.C. OFTEN REQUIRED FOR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY Click to continue

  10. There are THREE ways to graduate in BC! of B.C. • Adult Graduation (5 courses) 80 Credit Graduation (under age 19) GED Test (Grade 12 equivalency) Click to continue

The 5 COURSES for the ADULT DOGWOOD DIPLOMA are: • English 12 or Communications 12 • An approved Mathematics 11 or 12: • (Accounting 11, Apprenticeship & WP 11, • Foundations of Ma 11, Pre-Calculus 11) • 3 other Grade 12 level courses 1 (your choice) One of these 3 can be Social Studies 11 or Civics 11 2 (your choice) 3 (your choice) Provincial Exams are OPTIONAL Click to continue

The ADULT DOGWOOD DIPLOMA: - Students can use 2 courses completed in High School as part of the 5 courses - Students can get credit for Previous Learning (PLA) (For computer skills, or work experience) - Students who have already graduated in their home country can get credit for a language course: Russian 12, Mandarin 12, Punjabi 12, Farsi 12, etc - Also students who have already graduated in their home country have the option of using ICES at BCIT (International Credential Evaluation Service) Click to continue

  13. The 80 Credit Graduation: • For students born 1989 or later • Must complete 20 courses • Must write 5 Provincial exams 3 grade 10 exams (Ma, Sc, En) 1 grade 11 exam (SS or Civics) 1 grade 12 exam (Eng or Com) Click to continue

GED Grade 12 Equivalency • Write 5 Multiple Choice tests (Grade 10 content level) • Language, Literature, Socials, Science, Math • For students aged 19 and older • Write twice a year (testing dates, locations) • Must finish in 3 years • Purchase a GED book <$30 • $60 Fee (Pay the Ministry of Education) Click to continue

Grade 11 & 12 Night School Courses Classes take place at NWSS: All classes (On 8th street between 8th & 10th Ave) *English 12, Com 12/Com 11 at CSALC Classes are usually 6:30 to 9:00 PM Classes run either (Mon & Wed) or (Tues & Thurs) (September to January) or (February to June) Summer school is July and August (morning or afternoon) See our brochure or visit (www.ce40.ca) for dates and times. Primarily online (some paper versions)You will also receive help and tutoringfrom a BRITISH COLUMBIA CERTIFIED TEACHER AND ...you can design yourown schedule of attendance and study hours.   20. The online school semesters end Jan 24th & June 13th 2014. ONLINE LEARNING Students are given a user name and password to access their online courses Accessible 24 hrs, 7 days a week • Most online courses are student-paced • Some are teacher-paced – end in January Click to continue

English 10* Information Technology 10* Math 10 (Foundations & Pre-Calculus)* Physical Education 10 Planning 10 (Planning 12 for adults) Science 10* Social Studies 10* Only students on the 80 Credit Graduation can take Grade 10 online courses. *The NEW Literacy Foundation courses are available for adults Math 10 (Apprenticeship & Workplace) – available in Feb 2014 Click to continue
