  2. The future tense in French can be conveyed by what you are....

  3. 1 ..going to do… I am going to play tennis Je vais jouer au tennis

  4. ..going to do… You use the appropriate part of aller followed by the infinitive Je vais jouer Il va regarder Nous allons manger 1

  5. Let’s have fun and revise aller! Or perhaps we’ll just revise aller! Je vais Tu vas Il va Elle va On va Nous allons Vous allez Ils vont Elles vont

  6. 2 ..will do… I will play tennis Je jouerai au tennis

  7. 2 ..will do… For the je form add the –ai ending to the infinitive Je jouerai Je regarderai Je resterai

  8. 2 ..will do… For the je form add the –ai For the tu form add the –as For the il form add the –a For the elle form add the –a For the on form add the –a

  9. 2 ..will do… For the nous form add the –ons For the vous form add the –ez For the ils form add the –ont For the elles form add the –ont

  10. 2 ..will do… Je jouerai Il regardera Nous resterons Elles parleront

  11. 2 ..will do… For verbs ending in -ER and -IR you add the endings directly to the infinitive. For verbs ending in –RE, remove the final E before adding the endings Je liraije prendraije boirai

  12. 2 ..will do… There are some “naughty” irregular verbs that do NOT form the future with the infinitive!! Oh là là! Quelle horreur!

  13. 2 ..will do… These irregular futures just have to be learned! They do however use the same future endings (-ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont)

  14. 2 ..will … AVOIR - to have J’aurai - I will have

  15. 2 ..will … ÊTRE - to be Je serai - I will be

  16. 2 ..will … ALLER - to go J’irai - I will go

  17. 2 ..will … FAIRE - to do, make Je ferai - I will do/make

  18. You can also convey the future by using the following phrases followed by the infinitive:-

  19. je veux - I want j'espère - I hope je voudrais - I would like j'aimerais - I would like

  20. Je veux aller au cinéma I want to go to the cinema J’espère visiter les États-Unis I hope to visit America

  21. Je voudrais faire du vélo I would like to go (do) cycling J’aimerais avoir trois enfants I would like to have 3 children

  23. REFLEXIVES 1 Je vais me laver Tu vas te coucher Il va s’amuser Elle va se lever

  24. REFLEXIVES 1 Nous allons nous laver Vous allez vous coucher Ils vont s’amuser Elles vont se lever

  25. REFLEXIVES 2 Je me laverai Tu te coucheras Il s’amusera Elle se lèvera

  26. REFLEXIVES 2 Nous nous laverons Vous vous coucherez Ils s’amuseront Elles se lèveront
