  1. Government Vocabulary Use the descriptions of the vocabulary terms to place them on the government array.

  2. Absolute Monarchy Government by a king, a queen, a prince, an emir or other member of royalty This ruler has absolute power. His or her word is law.

  3. Dictatorship A single person rules with unlimited power.

  4. Tyrant A leader who misuses his power and takes advantage of his citizens

  5. Communism A system of government in which a single party controls the government and the economy OR theories developed by Karl Marx about the ideal society

  6. Oligarchy Government ruled by a small, elite group

  7. Direct Democracy Citizens vote to decide every issue. No one represents them, they decide themselves.

  8. Representative Democracy Rule by people you elect to make decisions for you

  9. Theocracy Religious leaders either control the government or influence it. Religious law is used to run the country.
