  6. Goals for AP Calculus • Develop an understanding of the concepts of Calculus. • Provide experience with Calculus methods and applications. • Develop an appreciation of Calculus as a coherent body of knowledge and as a human accomplishment. • Earn a passing score of 3 or higher on the AP exam. • Have fun!

  7. Supplies **Composition book (ASAP) Binder Graph paper Notebook paper *Pencils *Calculator – TI Nspire CX or CAS Colored pens, pencils Glue Scissors Supplies may not be left in my room! #responsibility

  8. Grading Major grades: Test/Project = 70% Minor grades: Quiz and Homework = 30% I DO NOT round up six weeks and semester averages! You will earn your grade in this class.

  9. Extra Credit Opportunities for extra credit will be given occasionally, but not often. Take advantage of the opportunities given. If you are completing all the regular assignments, you won’t need extra credit. Do not rely on extra credit.

  10. Homework Yes, you will have homework! And it is important. Homework is for review, practice, and application. I will not make you learn brand new material through homework alone. I will not waste your time by giving you useless assignments.

  11. Homework I expect homework to be done well because it is important. Due the fast-paced nature of our class, homework must be turned in on time. Late work will be accepted according to district policy.

  12. Tests Most of the time, we will have at least two tests/projects per six weeks. Tests will be completed independently, without notes, and without my help. DO NOT ask for assistance on tests. Due to the format of the AP tests, you will not be allowed to use a calculator on many tests.

  13. Tests How do I study for a math test??? If you wish to ace your tests, you must STUDY!!

  14. Tests Students will correct all tests! Credit will be given for test corrections which meet the requirements. There is new district policy for re-tests! See the district webpage for details at www.wfisd.net.

  15. Books Every student will need to check out a Calculus book from the book room. You should leave this book at home and use it to complete your homework. Book checks will take place every grading period. On occasion, I may ask you to bring your books to class, but my classroom set can be used in most cases. Books from my classroom set are not to leave my room. If you begin to struggle in class, read your textbook!

  16. Calculus Notebook Please bring your composition book to class ASAP!! One of our long-term goals this year is going to be to re-write your Calculus textbook as a fun, colorful, interactive Calculus Notebook!!
