  2. Situation Design/construct a 445 megawatt power plant valued at $180 million. Power block includes two 140 megawatt gas turbine generators (GTG), two triple-pressure heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) connected with bypass arrangement for flue gas, and a steam turbine generator (STG) in a 2-2-1 configuration. Needed to deliver engineering outputs in a compressed time schedule. Needed to integrate design outputs from multiple locations and engineering agencies to ensure all components of the HRSG are free of interference and accessible. Larsen & Toubro Limited - Konaseema Return on Investment • Cut design time and was able to deliver a largely error-free design • Existing investments in AutoPLANT were protected due to smooth interface with MicroStation • Use of 3D models eased construction, checking of interference errors and resolution of discrepancies Solution • Deployed AutoPLANT 3D for structural and equipment designs. Piping engineering team worked on 3D models to lay out pipes and valves • HRSG design in AutoPLANT was then integrated with Powerplant design done in MicroStation based PLADES system • Improved 3D visualization of AutoPLANT for complex design interpretation, quick decision making BE Awards 2006 Plant Multidiscipline Engineering -Nominee

Needed to integrate design outputs from multiple locations and engineering agencies to ensure all components of the HRSG are free of interference and accessible.
