Georgia College ranks 46th nationally in per capita physics majors, struggling with a shortage of new physics teachers annually. Key issues include poor student skills in arithmetic, algebra, and vocabulary, with essential physics concepts often left untaught. To combat these challenges, we've integrated ALEKS, an intelligent web-based learning system that identifies student knowledge gaps and tailors instruction accordingly. Our program emphasizes teaching through peer discussions, error analysis, and relevant literature, ensuring students are better prepared for future coursework and careers in physics.
