This can be a multitude of colours and, as can be seen from the following slide, it completely changes the look of the sock. This can cause confusion particularly for assistant referees who may need to look at the sock to determine who last played the ball before it has gone out of play.

North Riding County FA DEVELOPING FOOTBALL FOR EVERYONE • GLT was approved by IFAB and two systems have been licenced • (only two to pass all tests): • Hawk-Eye • GoalRef • It is likely to be introduced in due course but each ground will need to be tested prior to use. • Additional Assistant Referees (AAR) which has been used by UEFA and others has also been approved for further use.
