  2. A lily pad on a pond doubles in size every day. At the end of the fiftieth day, it entirely covers the pond. On which day did it cover half the pond?

  3. Kelvyn was hired to wash windows at $40 per day. Hopps was hired to dry windows according to the following plan: $0.01 for day 1, $0.02 for day 2, $0.04 for day 3 and so on, with each day doubling the amount earned on the previous day. After 20 days, they both quit. Who earned more money? How much more?
