Tag 229 Full Journal Title • Standardized version of the Journal Title • for Type of Record J, Tag 229 in S Level only • mandatory for journal records • IAEA-INIS-11: INIS List of Journal Titles (Sep 2012)check standardized version of your country’s journals • S Level of J Type of Records must contain: • Full Journal Title (Tag 229)plus • ISSN (Tag 320)or • CODEN (Tag 321)
New Journal Titles • When input from a new journal -not listed in IAEA-INIS-11 (INIS List of Journal Titles) • INIS needs the following information: • a photocopy of the cover page of the journal • any other pages with publishing information • showing title, and if available, ISSN or CODEN
New Journal Titles • If new journal has no ISSN or CODEN: • INIS will contact the ISSN International (France) • for ISSN assignment • Chemical Abstracts Service (USA) • for CODEN assignment • obtain new code on behalf of yourcentre Note: ISSN assignment is free of charge for ALL • when code is assigned - records enter into INIS Collection
Tag 320 ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) • Standardized unique code for identificationof journal title (serials) • assigned by the ISSN International Centre(in France) or by national or regional ISSNcentres • composed of : • the word ISSN and one space • four digits • one hyphen • four digits Example: ISSN 1133-0376
Tag 321 CODEN • Standardized unique code for identificationof journal title (periodical publications) • 6 characters (alphanumeric) • assigned by the Chemical AbstractsService (USA) Example: PJNEF6
