  2. Aims of this Presentation • To give overviews of the Programme for Workers’ Activities of ILO • To present the plans of future training programmes of ACTRAV-Turin

Long-term Objectives: • Empowerment of trade unions; • Strengthen trade union education/training; • Support the development of technical departments; • Involve trade unions in the promotion of ILO Standards and the Follow-up to the Declaration; • Strengthen tripartism and social dialogue; • Promote gender mainstreaming. • Help development of trade union networks (+)

Specific Objectives • To develop skills of participants in the priority area through high-quality training; • To increase bipartite and tripartite training courses; • To assist unions to develop gender policies; • To help unions develop I.T. policies; and • To extend our reach to as many workers as possible through distance education. (+)

Major Trends of the Program • Introduction of cross-cutting issues in all courses; • Greater resources devoted to evaluation;; • Delivery of courses on IT and Distance Education; • Development of training packages in various forms, including CD-ROM and Internet Web Site; • Closer collaborations with ICFTU, ITSs, and national centres in industrialized countries.   12. Improved Evaluation • Grasping needs/expectations at the beginning of the course; • Weekly evaluation • End of course evaluation (Work Plans) • Post-course evaluation (one year after the course - questionnaires by mail) • Follow-up activities in the Field • Feedback from MDTs (+)
