  2. History of the Olympic Truce The Olympic Truce first started in Olympia (Ancient Greece) in 776BC. At this time Greece was split up into different parts and also at war with neighbouring countries. King Iphotos tried to end all the wars by organising an athletic contest every four years. When the Truce started a contract was signed by the rulers of Elis, Sparta and Pisa, making all of the countries come together to reunite.

  3. Truce Walls The very first Truce wall was created by the Greek government for the 2004 Olympics which was hosted by Athens. Since 1998 the flag of the UN (united nations) has flown at all competitive games. The Truce Wall is a symbol of the Olympic Truce and the athletes meaning peace, support and understanding.

  4. Our pledges There are no strangers only friends we have not yet met. Friendship is in the air we breathe.

  5. There is a spark of respect in everyone. Friendship is within everyone, you just have to give respect

  6. Excellence is in everyone, even if they are good or bad. You can find friendship anyone even if your unkind

  7. The modern Olympic Truce The modern Olympic movement began in 1894 when the international Olympic committee was formed. The first modern Olympic games took place in 1896 but it was not until a century later that attempts were made to revive the Olympic Truce.

  8. Examples of the Truce In 1992 South Africa were able to compete following the abolition of apartheid. In 2000 North and South Korea marched under the same flag at the opening ceremonies. In 2004 Robina Muquimar and Friba Razayee were the first women to represent Afghanistan at the Olympic games.

Imagine the world without peace Countries will reunite
