Some history • Decree Dated 30 November 1998 on the formation of the Government • Decree Dated 20 July 1994 on the establishment and conduct of the Council of Ministers. • Decree Dated 24 January 1996 on the establishment of the MPTC (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications). • Sub-decree Dated 22 October 1997 on the organization and conduct of the MPTC • Resolution Dated 11 December 1991 by the Council of Ministers on the tariffs

  3. Rules introduced in 1999 • Proper identification of registrants • Registration fees • Re-registration of all pre-existing domain names • A name may be rejected if that name is considered to be offensive or inappropriate. • Certain names are not allowed, e.g. cambodia

  4. Conflict in Third Level Domain Names - A domain name should resemble the company name - If there is conflict between trade name and company name, trade name has priority. - A copy of License or Certificate of trade name, issued by the ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, authenticated by the municipality of Phnom Penh must be provided. Otherwise the applicant must show the original license of the DNS administrator.

  5. The current Second Level Domain Names, in accordance with wide practice in the internet world, are listed as follows: - .per.kh Personal. - .com.kh Commercial entities. - .edu.kh Educational Institutions bello the university level. - .gov.kh Government institutions.

  6. - .mil.kh Military Institutions. - .net.kh Only for the computer of network providers. - .org.kh Organizations of a variety of structure/composition

  7. Statistics Over 400 names registered under .kh • .com.kh Over 2500 names registered • .edu.kh Over 30 names registered • .gov.kh Over 45 names registered • .net.kh Over 11 names registered • .org.kh Over 80 names registered • Per.kh is 2 names registered
