Proposed Design

This proposed design features an attachment that connects seamlessly to the back of an existing Ankle-Foot Orthosis (AFO). It utilizes a linear actuator to shift a carriage side to side, accommodating terrain variations. This carriage holds two individually adjustable backstops for personalized support. Since the actuator does not need to bear the foot's weight, it enhances functionality and user comfort. Additionally, an integrated infrared range finder detects the terrain, providing real-time feedback for better walking stability.
