  2. Tof Efficiency Problem? • Searching for Lambda C using tof for pid • Efficiency seems low in both monte carlo and real data 2

  3. Monte Carlo Data • Simulated Lambda C decays with starsim • P,pi+,k- decay channel • Of the daughters of Lambda C particles, 7879 left hits in the 45th padrow in the tpc • Only 2376 of these left hits in the tof • Some tracks had more than one tof hit, often 6. Is this just part of how it is set up with geant? 3

  4. Ratio of number of daughtersleaving tof hits / number reaching 45th padrow 4

  5. Run 9 Data • VPDMB, 200 GeV p+p data • Selecting first primary vertex within 6cm of VPD vertex • Calculate expected tof hits by counting number of tracks with lastpoint->perp() > 188 cm (tracks that made it to the outer edge of the tpc), with abs(eta) < .9, and with transverse momentum > .2 GeV/c • Left out tracks with no tof hits (just to make sure the problem wasn't in vertex selection) 5

  6. Expected #tofhits and actual #tofhits comparison forVPD consistent vertices 6

  7. Overall, about .3 efficiency in monte carlo and .45 in real data • The fact that efficiency is so much higher in the real data is most likely do to the fact that I ignored vertexes with no tof hits, even if they were consistent with VPD 7
