Learning & Development Branch‘An alternative way of delivering learning’ Steve Butterworth– BA (Hons) Head of Immersive Learning & Design
What’s our biggest problem with Alternative / Blended Learning? Measurement We can publish eLearning programmes but are unable to track user access and completion efficiently and cost effectively. • VCOP Example: • Each user had to print out and sign a piece of paper which was returned to L&D for manual tracking on a spreadsheet. • Divisional administration ‘track and trace’ • L&D manual input & error correction • L&D manual sifting and reporting • 1 min per form x 7,300 forms = 121.7 hours / 15.2 days for administration
eLearning Launch Summary • Launch 2nd Quarter 2007 (expected early April) • Will provide a flexible platform for en mass delivery of training with full tracking • Efficiency savings when compared against traditional delivery methods, such as the classroom, workbooks, etc • Deployed effectively, eLearning could offset the pressure on resources • Senior Management / HR Manager ‘buy in’ is essential throughout the organisation to make this work • It’s not a replacement for classroom training – It’s just another tool to help learning delivery.
