  2. Addicton • Children can spend hours at a time text messaging back and forth nonstop. • Become agitated and anxious if their cell phone’s off. • They can develop chronic behavior without their cell. Michael Ortiz

  3. Japan’s children’s addiction • Cell phones can be used as an internet, which can constitute a higher chance of addiction. • A third of every sixth grader and 60% of the 9th graders own a phone. • A fad dubbed “30 minute-rule” is one the reasons for the long hours of e-mails. Michael Ortiz

  4. Con Grammar • There can be confusion when people converse with each other in society. • Aggravates many web users who may read a website with not so many descriptive words. • Abbreviated words and emoticon’s are not real words used in the society. Michael Ortiz

  5. Pro Grammer • Grammar is not threatened if children text in abbreviated words. • Shows a child’s more imaginative side. • Mainly used to speed up the response between each other. Michael Ortiz

  6. Pro’s about Grammer • Because of the use of emoticon’s, the typed text word “.banana:” in forums was replaced by a heavily pixilated dancing banana. Michael Ortiz

  7. Development of RSI • Inflammation upon the thumbs and wrists. • Repetitive texting, especially upon small hand-held mobile phones daily. • Millions of children suffer RSI each year, and the number keeps growing with the growing amount of mobile phones being used. Michael Ortiz

  8. Prevention of RSI • Recommended that children should only text message for 15 minutes a day. • Or at least take a break from text messaging for while. The cell phone is not going anywhere. • Do an activity to take the mind away from texting. If there is no activity to think of, make something up. Michael Ortiz

  9. Treatment of RSI • Do not use the cell phone often. • Playing video games can constitute RSI as well. • Support bandages Michael Ortiz

  10. Cell phone for kids • There are cell phone’s made exclusively for children only. • Parents can limit the amount of callers the child can have in their list. • The child would be unable to call anyone not listed in his/her phone. • Limited number of buttons on the phone. • Easy for the child to use. • A GPS is installed in some phone in case child is abducted.
