This guide outlines effective instructional strategies for a 90-minute reading block, designed by Carol Dissen. It details approaches for pre-teaching and re-teaching ELL and intervention strategies in small groups and whole class settings. Key components include core program routines, phonemic awareness, guided reading, and literature discussions. Strategies promote language development, comprehension, and fluency. The model emphasizes homogeneous groupings based on assessment data, ensuring targeted support for Title 1 and special education students, as well as ESL learners.
