Modern Adaptations • Romeo and Juliet have been preformed in many plays and movies. In both of these performances, the directors are trying to make it as modern as possible. For example, when a school director directs the play, she tries to make inferences so the students will understand it. Also, in “Romeo + Juliet” they have modern day clothes, and also settings.
Text to Text • Romeo and Juliet relates to Pyramus and Thisbe by also being forbidden to wed because of their parents rivalry. These two also have a forbidden love that can’t be broken. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramus_and_Thisbe
Text to World • Romeo and Juliet relates to the world by the relationships and fights. The fights being kind of like gangs. In “Romeo and Juliet” the fight going on between between the Capulets and Montague, is kind of like the fights between gangs like the Bloods and Crypts. The love being first love between teenagers and thinking its the best thing ever.
Text to Self • Romeo and Juliet and myself don’t have much in common. From the forbidden love, to the fights, I haven’t really experienced that yet.
