  5. GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND PROBATION Total GPA is calculated by adding the grade points earned for each course. PROBATION LETTER • May 19, 2010 • Student Name, • Your academic performance has not met the standards required by the College of Science (overall and major GPA of 2.00 cumulatively and for each semester). Therefore, you are being placed on academic probation (http://student-rules.tamu.edu/rule12) and will be given one additional semester to comply with the above standards. • The terms of your probation are: • No unexcused absences • Follow courses in your declared major • Complete at least one course in your major if you have a grade point deficiency in the major GPA (if you are unsure what constitutes as a major course, contact me or your advisor) • Complete 12 hours in the fall or spring or at least 4-8 hours in the summer (unless you have extenuating circumstances I have approved) • Grade Point DeficiencyProbation • -2 GP’s overall C +2 GP’s overall • 0 GP’s in Major C +0 GP’s in Major • Biology majors must earn C’s in 111 and 112 before taking more advanced courses.
