  1. September 2, 2014 EQ: How does language shape meaning? Warm- Up: Tone Up Whimsical: playful and fanciful, imaginative in a strange, pleasing way. Dejected: sad and dispirited; depressed Baffled: to be totally bewildered or perplexed; distressingly confused Surely this couldn’t be right, but here he was, in a bed that was not his own and lying next to a woman that looked almost exactly like his wife only much older.

  2. Procedure: • Choose your best example of a journal from The Once and Future King. • Decide which rhetorical device you will write about. Possible choices: imagery, figurative language, paradox, allusion, irony, repetition, etc. • On a sheet of loose leaf paper set you paper up in the correct format: • Attach your new analysis to the 10 journal entries for this text. If you have no other entries, turn it in alone.
