  3. Pre Game Conference • Information to Check • Team Name listed • First & Last Name • Substitutes listed • DP/Flex listed • AP(s) listed • No Duplicate Numbers • No Player listed twice • Starting Players present

  13. Courtesy Runner Kretschman #12 reported as courtesy runner for catcher in 3rd Inning #12 has not been in the game and is eligible to be a courtesy runner. Roth #22 does not leave game. Kretschman can not courtesy run for pitcher in same inning. Kretschman retains substitution and reenter rights. Note #12 used as Courtesy Runner C3

  14. About the Additional Player (AP) • Additional Player (AP) must be selected prior to the start of the game. • Failure to declare AP‘s at the start, precludes the use of the AP’s for the remainder of that game. • Up to two Additional Players can be used any where to increase the batting lineup to 10 or 11 batting. • The AP’s can also be used on defense (only 9 defensive player in the field). • The AP’s must keep the same position in the batting order. • If an Additional Player is used, the position must be used the entire game. • The re-entry rules also apply for the AP’s.

  15. Additional Player Use of AP AP can be listed anywhere All Ten (or Eleven) bat. Any Nine can play defense. AP listed where batting NOT on Defense NOT on Defense

About the DP / Flex: • The Designated Player/Flex (DP/Flex) must be selected prior to the start of the game. • It is not mandatory the use of the DP/Flex. • Failure to declare the DP/Flex at the start, precludes its use for the remainder of that game. • The Designated Player (DP) is basically an offensive player. The Flex player is basically a defensive player. • The DP should be listed where they are battingThe Flex should be listed last. • A pinch hitter or runner can substitute for the DP or the Flex and she become the new DP or Flex. • All players can re-enter including the DP and the Flex.

  17. The role of either can be terminated when: • A. The Flex bats or runs for the Designated Player (DP). • B. The Flex is not playing defense nor offense. • In both case the number of players in the lineup is reduced by 1. • The lineup can go back up by 1 if either the DP or the Flex re-enters. • or a substitute for either enters or re-enters

  21. DP / Flex May substitute for DP at any time. DP may re-enter. If DP not on offense, DP out of game. • FLEX playing offense • Only for DP. • Reduces number in lineup. • Must be reported. • Note on Lineup Card NOT on Offense; Out of Game X NOT on Defense Running for DP

  22. DP / Flex May substitute for FLEX at any time. FLEX may re-enter. The DP or an AP may play defense for the FLEX. In either case, the FLEX will leave the game. Note on Lineup Card NOT on Defense X NOT on Defense

  23. DP / Flex The Flex (Non Batting) Position can be Re-established. If FLEX re-enters into non batting position. Note on Lineup Card Flex back in Flex can not reenter

  24. DP / Flex The Flex (Non Batting) Position can be Re-established. If DP re-enters and FLEX moves back into non batting position. Note on Lineup Card DP back in DP can not reenter again

  25. DP / Flex FLEX can only bat/run for DP. The FLEX is ejected for batting/running for someone other than the DP. FLEX can NOT bat Here FLEX can only go Here NOT on Defense Batting for DP in DP spot

  26. DP / Flex The DP may play any defensive position, any time and any number of times. Does not count as a substitution for anyone except the FLEX. Must be reported. The FLEX may play offense in DP’s position any time and any number of times. This is a substitution for the DP. Must be reported. The DP & FLEX can both be on defense at the same time. The DP & FLEX can NOT be on offense at the same time.

  27. DP / Flex No courtesy runner for DP. Unless DP is the pitcher or catcher of record. NOT on Defense CR Only if P or C NOT on Defense

  28. Conf3 Conferences In 3rd Inning, Defensive Coach goes to mound to talk to Pitcher. Note Conference on Lineup Card.

  29. Shorthanded • With No eligible substitutes • Flex or DP injured – play down one – NOT shorthanded • Using DP/Flex; a different player injured. • Can Flex take player’s batting position? • Playing with 2 APs and 2 players injured. • Can the game continue since team can still field nine (9) on defense?

  30. Multiple Substitutes • Between Innings, Coach reports substitutes for first three batters. • Legal – Players are in the game when announced. • Coach reports a pinch hitter for Pitcher and that the Pitcher will reenter when team goes on defensive. • Pinch Hitter is put in the game. However Pitcher must be reported when she reenters.
