Council Decision Strengtheningof the embargo againstNorthKoreaby the EU The embargo against North Korea has been reinforced by the Council Decision 2013/88/CFSPto insert additional embargo on certain goods and technology which could contribute to DPRK’s nuclear-related, ballistic missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes and update the lists of persons, entities and bodies targeted.These lists, together with the Decision, have been published in the Official Journal, 19 February 2013.   4. Legaldevelopments: International Australia Group The Australia Group, in March 2013, has issued updates of its three lists “biological agents”, “biological equipment”and “chemical equipments”. It provided also a Statement of Concern Regarding Syrian Chemical Weapons in which it urges the Syrian government to “renounce the use of chemical or biological weapons under any circumstances and eliminate all such weapons forthwith”. Arms Trade Treaty United Nations General Assembly, 2 April 2013 – adoption The Arms Trade Treaty, failing to reach unanimity, has been adopted by the United Nations General Assembly by 154 vote for, 23 abstentions and 3 against. United Nations officials as well as the European Union’s High Representative and the US Secretary of State welcomed this adoption.
