What is the Showcase? • You will create works of art responding to the exhibitions at the MCASD. • You will exhibit your artwork at an established and internationally known art museum. • We encourage students to engage and create art using different art mediums/styles.

Why is art important? • Art makes self expression possible and reinforces personal strength in meaningful ways • Breaks racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers through the its universal language. Moreover, it enhances cultural appreciation and awareness • Promotes critical thinking • Helps develop aesthetic taste • Promotes independence and collaboration
How can art be used to inform people/persuade them/ change their opinions? • Art connects itself to the superstructure of a culture/society since all art has a “context.” Context can change human behavior. • How does it change behavior in a societal and personal basis?
