About Atlantis • Atlantis is a legendary island. • Plato believed that Atlantis was in the Atlantic ocean near the Azores. • The second theory places Atlantis in the Bahamas. • The third theory puts Atlantis in the Mediterranean, near Crete.
Plato • Plato was a Classical Greek philosopher, mathematician, and founder of the Academy in Athens. • Plato was originally a student of Socrates.
Plato’s idea • In some of his work he described a wonderful continent. It was called Atlantis. It was like heaven. The people were hardworking and religious. They respected the law.
The end of Atlantis • Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune“ because the people changed their lifestyle and became greedy. • The mystery of the lost continent remains unsolved.
