Results Objectives Methods Results Existence of TLR5 in different parts of the FT carrying EP and women with pseudo-pregnancy has been shown using RT-PCR. Q-PCR was shown relative TLR5 expression in Infundibulum, Ampulla and Isthmus of FT carrying EP is lower than FT with pseudo-pregnancy. The presence of immune system within the female reproductive tract is increasingly being recognized as an important element for maintaining host protection and promoting reproductive functions. The Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs) family plays an important role in innate immune responses against microbial pathogens within the genital tract. These receptors recognize distinct pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) that are expressed on infectious agents. To date, 10 members of the TLR family have been identified in human. TLR5 can recognize bacterial flagellin, which is a component of bacterial flagella known to be a virulence factor. In the female reproductive tract an Ectopic Pregnancy (EP) is a complication of pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants someplace other than the uterus, most often in the Fallopian Tube (FT). So our objective in this study is investigation TLR5 expression in FTs carrying EP. Biopsies from Infundibulum, Ampulla and Isthmus of FT were obtained from women who underwent hysterectomy and salpingectomy for EP. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) was injected in14 days leading up to hysterectomy to produce a state of pseudo-pregnancy. RT-PCR was used to test the existence of TLR5 gene in these sections. FTs of ectopic pregnant compared with FTs of pseudo-pregnant by using Q-PCR for TLR5 gene.
