  5. Love and Belongings Needs • Getting married • Having a family • Member of a group

  6. The Esteem Needs Lower Level: • Respect of others • Need for fame or glory • Need for recognition and attention Higher Level: • Need for confidence and competence • Need for mastery • Need for independence and freedom

  7. Self-Actualization • Only a small percentage of the population meets this stage. • Some people that have met this criteria according to Maslow’s research are: Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jane Adams, William James, Albert Schweitzer, Benedict Spinoza, and Alduous Huxley
