Hell. What will Hell be like?. Introduction. Many, even those who claim to follow Christ, do not believe in an eternal place of torment called Hell They reason, “How could a loving God punish people by eternally condemning them to Hell?”

Introduction • Many, even those who claim to follow Christ, do not believe in an eternal place of torment called Hell • They reason, “How could a loving God punish people by eternally condemning them to Hell?” • Or, if they believe in Hell, they do not believe they would ever go there • Or, they just believe in Hell on earth

  3. Introduction • Jesus believed in and taught on Hell more than anyone – mentioning it 11 out of 13 times it is found in New Testament • James and Peter refer to Hell one time each • Cannot believe in Jesus as the Son of God without believing His teaching, including His teaching on Hell

  4. Introduction • Scriptures clearly tell us what Hell is like • Believing the Word, we should not have any desire to go to Hell • Encourage all to Love the Lord by submitting to His will so we may be in Heaven with Him for eternity

  5. Death – The Bible Compared To The World • World teaches death is when vital organs cease to function • They teach we cease to exist at death • Bible teaches death occurs when human spirit leaves or is separated from the body • We still are conscience after death although without a body

  6. Bible Teaching On Death • Jas 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. • Ecc 12:7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

  7. Bible Teaching On Death • Luk 16:22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. • Luk 16:23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.

Bible Teaching On Death • All of us will die unless the Lord comes first • Our bodies will deteriorate but our spirits will live on somewhere, either in Hades (torment) or Paradise (comfort) • All who leave this life separated from Christ will enter torment awaiting final judgment where eternity in Hell awaits • What is Hell like?

Who Will Go To Hell? • 2Th 1:8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. • 2Th 1:9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, • Mat 25:41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

Who Will Go To Hell? • Mat 5:22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

Who Will Go To Hell? • Mat 5:29 "If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. • Mat 5:30 "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

  22. Who Will Go To Hell? • Mat 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

  23. Who Will Go To Hell? • Jas 3:5 So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! • Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.

  24. Who Will Go To Hell? • Rev 21:8 "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

  25. Who Will Go To Hell? • Rev 20:15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

How Can We Have Our Names Written In God’s Book of Life? • Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. • Act 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

How Can We Have Our Names Written In God’s Book of Life? • Act 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. • Act 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

How Can We Have Our Names Written In God’s Book of Life? • Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, • Heb 12:23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

  29. How Can We Have Our Names Written In God’s Book of Life? • Rev 3:5 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. • Act 8:22 "Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.
