Synthetic Drugs • As the popularity of synthetic drugs has grown , seizure rates have increased also. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the worldwide number of users of amphetamine (stimulants) is higher than the combined number of heroin and cocaine users.
Costs to society! It costs the society an estimated $67 billion. This includes cost in health, social, and criminal costs. That doesn’t include law enforcement and courts and many other costs.
Drugs and Pregnancy Like FAS, if a mother uses drugs during the pregnancy the baby will be born addicted to drugs. The baby will then go through withdrawal a few days after birth.

Inhalants • Most inhalants depress the central nervous system and produce effects similar to those of alcohol. Heavy use of inhalants can result in liver and kidney damage.
Designer Drugs • Designer drugs are synthetic substances meant to imitate the effects of narcotics and hallucinogens. One of the most known designer drugs is ecstasy.
Drug-Free School Zones • These are areas within 1,000 feet of schools and designated by signs, within which people caught selling drugs receive especially tough penalties.
Efforts In School • Schools are trying to cut down the drug use, so they are now having drug education, suspensions and expulsions for drug use, police and security guards in halls, and many more things.
