  3. Background • Designed as a leadership development course for • officers with 6-10 years of PHS Active Duty. • Course was last offered by COTA in March 2011. • Over 1500 Officers were sent an email notification • to attend March 2014 course.

  4. Prerequisites • Commissioned Corps Training Ribbon • Supervisor’s Approval • Satisfactory COER • Screen shot of Basic Readiness Status • from Direct Access

  5. Course Content • PHS History • Uniform Service Courtesies • Preparing a Public Health Service Brief • PHS Awards • Promotions • Time Management • Conflict Resolution • Preparing a Personal Development Plan • Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment • Servant Leadership

Did you know? • Basic Readiness is required by law. • [United States Code (USC), Title 42, Section 204A] • President’s Challenge eliminated by July 2015 • APFT completed via Skype (Isolated Officers) • Great COERS vs. PHS Awards • New applicants to the Corps will be interviewed by • telephone.
