  4. El subjuntivo en español Normalmente se usa en este situación: Hay una oración con uno de los “WEIRDO” expresado en la clausula principal. El sujeto del clausula principal no es el mismo que el de la clausula secundaria. Entonces la clausula secundaria usa el subjuntivo

  6. Regular verbs/verbs with irregular yo forms • Conjugate the verb in the present indicative “yo” form. • Take off the “o” at the end. • Add on the following endings: -AR -ER/-IR

Stem changing verbs • -IR Stem changers • Use the regular subjunctive conjugations except for in the nosotrosand vosotros forms • In those forms: • O:UE  the OU of the subjunctive root changes to U • E:IE  the IE of the subjunctive root changes to I • Try this with: Dormir, Pedir, and Sentir

  11. Orthographic changes • Verbs ending in –zar • Z changes to C when it comes before the letter E • Empezar: empiece, empieces, etc. • Verbs ending in –giror –ger • G changes to J when it comes before the letter A • Elegir(e:i): elija, elijas, etc • Escoger: escoja, escojas, etc.

Orthographic changes continued • Verbs ending in –car • C changes to QU before the letter E • Buscar: busque, busques, etc. • Verbs ending in –gar • G changes to GU before the letter E • Pagar: Pague, pagues, etc. • Verbs ending in –uir • I changes to Y before the letter A • Huir: huya, huyas, etc.
