  20. How to submit podcast to iTunes in Podbean accountIt is easy to submit your podcast to the iTunes music store when using the Podbean.com podcast hosting service. Podbean.com has built-in iTunes RSS feed generating and podcast setting mechanism. Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  21. Podcasting on iTunes takes several steps: Step 1: Get your Podcast onPodBean Create your first episode, which can be an audio recording, video, or even a text document. Supported file formats include .mp3, .mp4, .mov, and .pdf. Post your episode file(s) to your PodBean.com site (as described earlier in this PowerPoint). Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  22. Step 2: Get the RSS Feed you will need for posting on iTunes, fromPodBean An RSS feed (an XML file) will be automatically generated for you in PodBean. This RSS feed :* conforms to the RSS 2.0 specification * includes the recommended iTunes RSS tags, * contains pointers to your episode. The RSS file is automatically posted on your Podbean.com site and can be reached by clicking at the sidebar Feed section. Ensure you have the name of the webpage where your podcast is hosted, e.g. “your_username.podbean.com/feed” Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  23. Step 3: Open up iTunes and get onto the podcasts link Launch iTunes. Click ‘Music Store’ in the left navigation column and enter the Music Store page. Once on the Music Store page and in the left navigation column, click on the podcasts link to open the podcasts page. Look on the bottom right hand corner for the next link to the podcasting page... Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  24. Step 4: Submitting the URL for your RSS feed to iTunes. In the middle of the page you will see the podcasting icon with the purple wave, click on the ‘Submit a Podcast link’ button. Follow the instructions on the Submit a Podcast page, or click on the link below and scroll down to where it says “How do I submit my podcast?” Click on the link provided there to go directly to the right page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcastingfaq.html Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  25. The podcasting icon and link will look like this: Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  26. This is where you write your podcast’s webaddress (where your podcast is hosted), e.g. “http://your_username.podbean.com/name_of_your_podcast”, click Continue Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  27. Last stepin getting your podcast onto iTunes Since podbean.com has created an RSS feed with all of the recommended iTunes tags, you will see a summary page immediately after you submit your feed URL. If you have not included <language>, <itunes:category>, and <itunes:explicit> tags in your feed, you will see a second screen prompting you for this information. Please note - you can change this information at a later date by changing the tags in your Podbean.com account at ‘Settings’ – ‘iTunes/Advance’ section. Your RSS feed is considered the current and most authoritative source of information about your podcast. Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  28. Final Notes You will need a valid iTunes account, and you will need to be logged into iTunes. If you are not logged in, iTunes will prompt you to do so before accepting your submission. By requiring you to log in, iTunes increases the likelihood of valid contact information for each submission and your credit card will not be charged for submission of a podcast. Look at these pages to download iTunes and open an account: http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/download/ or http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302058 Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  29. Why does my latest podcast not show in iTunes? Staff look at the Podcasts before it is uploaded to iTunes, and with the huge amount of podcasts to get through, it looks like iTunes is taking longer and longer to update Podcasts. Sometimes, it takes more than one week. So, for now, just be patient and wait. iTunes will pick up your podcast and update it. Or you may contact iTunes to see if you can get any support on this issue. For other FAQ’s, go to http://faq.podbean.com/podcast-faq-index/ Created by Maryna Badenhorst

  31. Some Applications in Education • Language: Prescribed books read as podcast episodes • LOTE: Songs/musical instruments and conversations between native speakers recorded • English: Round table discussions between “experts” or teachers and students recorded and reviewed later • Dance: The teacher can make a podcast containing music and instructions (in her voice) so students can listen and practice at home • Astronomy: Instructions on where to find stars and constellations so students can take the recording with them during night time and orientate themselves • Maths: Instructions on basic steps that need to be repeated for similar problems e.g. in fractions • History: Dates and events read out so it can be used for revision • Students can make podcasts as an alternative assessment tool, e.g. writing jingles, poems (and reciting them themselves), enhanced podcasts with pictures to go with the content, record their thoughts, record SKYPE conversations with students outside the classroom, have interviews with guests, etc. Created by Maryna Badenhorst
