  4. Highlighted Program The Agricultural BMPs Program • What is it? A funding program to encourage and implement agricultural BMPs throughout the Lititz Run Watershed; funding is provided through the acquisition of grant funding; Warwick Township and LRWA apply for grants to fund BMP implementation The Lititz Run Watershed is a tributary of the Conestoga River, which is a tributary of the Susquehanna River "A Community Improving Its Water Quality

The program seeks to concurrently address two frequently perceived objectives • Maintain the viability of the farm economy in Lancaster County • Preserve the cultural and natural resource of the Chesapeake Bay "A Community Improving Its Water Quality

Highlighted Projects Hess Farm Challenges: Stream Bank Erosion, Stream Bank Sluffing, Livestock Access (elimination of livestock access and summer shelter), Manure Runoff (apparent direct discharge), Storm Water Runoff, Feedlot Erosion Completed Planning: P-Based Nutrient Management Plan Soil & Water Conservation Plan Implemented BMPs: Stream Bank Fencing, Manure Storage, Storm Water Controls, Gutters, Nose-Pump Waterers "A Community Improving Its Water Quality

Highlighted Projects Wenger Farm Challenges: Stream Bank Erosion, Barnyard Runoff (apparent direct discharge), Storm Water Runoff, Milk House Wash Water, Pasture Erosion Completed Planning: P-Based Nutrient Management Plan Soil & Water Conservation Plan Implemented BMPs: Stabilized Crossings, Stream Bank Fencing, Manure Storage, Improved Exercise Lot, Storm Water Controls (diversion), Gutters, Pasture Re-grading and Seeding "A Community Improving Its Water Quality
