  1. Identify = point out Represent = stand for Positive number = number greater than zero Number line= line in which indicate the sequence of numbers Today we will identify and represent positive numbers on a number line

  2. Number Line! Number lines are used for many things! A few of the uses of number lines are to: Add Subtract 5 + 3 = 8 6 - 5 = 1

  3. Positive Numbers All numbers that are greater than zero! Remember that if a number does not have a sign next to it, then it is positive! Some examples are: 7, 8, +8, 9, +19, 1,000,000 etc. Non-examples are: -1, -3, -1,000,023

  4. Number line a number line is a picture of a straight line on which every point corresponds to a real number and every real number to a point.

  5. Hint • If you don’t see a negative or positive sign in front of a number it is positive. 9 +

  6. Let’s practice identifying positive integers! Steps: Look at the point Look at the point above the number line Where is it located? Write that number down! Where is point A located? That’s right! 6 A .

  7. Let’s practice identifying positive integers! Steps: Look at the point Look at the point above the number line Where is it located? Write that number down! Where is point x located? That’s right! 11 x .

  8. Let’s practice identifying positive integers! Steps: Look at the point Look at the point above the number line Where is it located? Write that number down! Where is point t located? That’s right! 0 t .

  9. Now Let’s practice representing positive integers on a number line! Steps: Look at the number you are going to represent Look at the number line and think where it is going to be placed Represent on the number line above the number Represent point x on the number line Draw and label it on the number line at 8 X .

  10. Now Let’s practice representing positive integers on a number line! Steps: Look at the number you are going to represent Look at the number line and think where it is going to be placed Represent on the number line above the number Represent point a on the number line Draw and label it on the number line at 0 a .

  11. Now Let’s practice representing positive integers on a number line! Steps: Look at the number you are going to represent Look at the number line and think where it is going to be placed Represent on the number line above the number Represent point b on the number line Draw and label it on the number line at 13 b .

  12. Let’s see what we’ve learned! What is a number line? What are positive integers? 8 +8
