  1. Clock and Trigger Distributionfor NA62 Marián Krivda, Cristina Lazzeroni University of Birmingham, UK

  2. Summary of LTU production and tests • 20 LTU boards are available • 19 boards o.k. • 1 board has a wire patch -> use it only in lab !

  3. LTU firmware ver.6 • Temp (temperature on board) • BUSY (choke/error - enable/disable) • TTCvi (coding and serialization for TTC ch. B) • VME FIFO • Short, long broadcast option (only from VME FIFO) • L0 processor Emulator • Start signal (RND, BC, Pulser edge/level, Soft trigger) • Counters

  4. Test setup I. LTU(emulates trigger seq’s)  TTCex (feeds optical link)  TTCit (monitors optical link) VME processor LTU TTCex TTCit

  5. B-channel short broadcast test 8 bit data data[0] and data[1] have special meaning effectively only data[7:2] can be used for the message Data bits Hamming bits Test: data messages set by LTU software LTU-->TTCex --> TTCit Strobed data

  6. Test setup II. • Installation of new VME processor VP717 and VME RCC driver -> successful • Test for more LTUs in one VME crate (15 LTUs !!!) -> successful

  7. TTCexII (ver.2) • After extensive tests, TTC group (PH-ESE) has found a component (PLL) which hasn`t constant delay after power-up. • PH-ESE will change PLL for different type and redo TTCex boards • Solution: • now: 5 TTCex (any kind) + 1 TTCex (mark I) or good-quality mark II) • for 2012 runs (not later than April 2012): 2 TTCex (mark I) + 3 TTCex (mark I or good-quality mark II)

  8. TTC network – final version

  9. Optical splitters • After a negotiations with INFRACTIVE we got a better price: • 1:4 -> 145 EUR • 1:8 -> 165 EUR • 1:16 -> 225 EUR • They use cheaper metal box • Offer is valid only 1 month, so WE NEED TO ORDER THEM SOON IF WE WANT A GOOD PRICE

  10. Next plans • Implement SSM functionality (firmware) • Implement a timing synchronization(software), RC circuit is on the board: • LTU -> TTCex • L0processor -> LTU

  11. Summary • We have 20 LTU boards and ??? TTCexboards • 6 LTUs are ready for distribution – now (request from Marco Sozzi) • Other LTUs can be picked-up at 53-R-008, but please send me email before coming • TTC network is defined • Optical splitters order (???) • We have 3 TTCit boards for NA62 -> necessary to test them
