DIRECT INSTRUCTION • C:No talking. • H:Write down any questions you have and hold them until the Q&A at the end of the lecture. • A:Take notes and keep a running list of questions. • M:The only reason to get out of your seat is to sharpen a broken pencil -- quietly. • P:Eyes on teacher, taking notes, sitting up with head off desk.

  3. INDIVIDUAL WORK • C:You may quietly ask your nearest peer a question about how to do the assignment. • H: First quietly ask your neighbors. If they can’t help you, use the question parking lot and write your name on your sticky note. • A: Complete the given assignment in the allotted time. • M: You may get up to sharpen a broken pencil or to take the restroom pass to the bathroom. • P: You are working on your work for this class.

Tests, quizzes and timed writes • C:No talking. • H: Raise hand and Mrs. Barber will come by to answer your question. • A: Complete test/quiz/essay in allotted time. • M: The only reason to get out of your seat is to sharpen a broken pencil -- quietly. • P: Sitting up with head off desk, working on your test/quiz/essay, with your eyes on your work only.

  5. GROUP WORK • C:Six inch voices, talking only to members of your group, only about the assignment. • H: First quietly ask your neighbors. If they can’t help you, use the question parking lot and write your name on your sticky note. • A: Complete the given assignments within the allotted time, meeting group deadlines. • M:You may get up to sharpen a broken pencil or to take the restroom pass to the bathroom. • P:Each member of the group takes responsibility for their role and their part in the group work by showing up, pulling their weight, and completing the tasks given to them by the teacher or their group members.
